"Mark Godden's Little Bit Of Cyberspace Mk.II"
Cryoturbated cap and roach at Portland Bill.
Glaciation during the last Ice Age never extended as far south as Portland (glaciers probably did not reach much south of a line between London and the Bristol Channel). The area did however, experience periglacial conditions. Freeze-thaw cycles were responsible for smashing rocks near to the surface, such as these exposed in the low sea cliffs at Portland Bill.
